AfricaCom 2025 marked another important milestone for Spectronite. With back-to-back meetings throughout the week and a high level of interest from operators across the continent, the event validated the growing demand for high-capacity, power-efficient backhaul to support national digital ambitions.
Our conversations echoed a common theme: operators are looking for smarter ways to expand coverage, reduce energy consumption, and deliver fast, reliable connectivity, especially in rural and remote areas where the digital divide remains most pronounced. This is where Spectronite delivers unmatched impact.
What We Showcased in Cape Town
At this year’s AfricaCom, Spectronite demonstrated how our software-defined microwave platform is fundamentally reshaping the economics of transport networks in Africa. Operators here face a dual challenge: the need to rapidly expand coverage into rural and underserved regions while keeping energy costs and capital expenditure under control. Our technology directly addresses this reality.
By delivering fiber-like capacity across long distances, while decreasing power usage or site complexity, we enable operators to reach communities that were previously too costly or too difficult to serve. This translates into faster network rollout, fewer power constraints, and improved quality of service where it is needed most. The ability to operate with significantly reduced energy consumption also supports sustainability commitments and protects operators from rising operational costs.
“AfricaCom confirmed what we see in the market every day, operators need to expand faster while reducing the energy and cost burden of their networks. Our technology gives them a new path forward, one built on performance, efficiency, and long-term evolution.”
– Jean-Philippe Fournier, CEO, Spectronite
In a continent where every megahertz and every watt matters, Spectronite’s intelligent use of spectrum and software-driven optimization allows networks to scale far more efficiently than with legacy infrastructure. Instead of forcing trade-offs between performance, reach, and cost, operators can finally achieve all three, improving margins while accelerating digital inclusion.
“The conversations in Cape Town were focused on outcomes: covering more people, delivering more capacity, and doing it sustainably. There’s strong momentum behind operators looking to rethink backhaul, and we are excited to move forward with the partnerships initiated here.”

Strengthening Africa’s Digital Future
Beyond the exhibition floor, Spectronite participated in the Digital Africa Summit, Cape Town Edition, joining leaders from government, industry, and investment to align on strategies that accelerate broadband access and digital transformation.
AfricaCom also gave us the opportunity to share our vision more widely during an on-camera interview with TechAfrica News. The discussion focused on the real-world impact of Spectronite’s technology, how smarter, high-performance backhaul can help African operators scale faster, unlock new revenue potential, and serve more communities with reliable connectivity.
“The industry today requires that when more capacity is needed, someone has to travel to the site, sometimes days away from the operations center, to upgrade hardware and add equipment to the antennas. That is often overlooked. We are transitioning this industry toward a fully software-defined network. Even in Africa, software-defined networks are a hot topic in Europe, but we are bringing that innovation here. We believe this will accelerate deployment and fundamentally change the economics of wireless backhaul.”

Looking Ahead
We leave Cape Town energized by the engagement and the opportunities ahead. Africa remains one of the world’s most dynamic connectivity markets, and Spectronite is committed to supporting operators as they scale networks that reach every community.
Thank you to all our partners, customers, and new connections who helped make AfricaCom 2025 a success. We look forward to continuing these conversations and working together to build a more connected and sustainable future.
